Fish the waters of Everglades and Biscayne National Parks, Florida Bay, and the upper Keys aboard a fully equipped SeaHunter 18 Tournament edition flats/back country boat. The boat is outfitted with a 90 hp Mercury engine; comfortable seating for four persons with back support, VHF radio, first aid and other safety equipment, live well, dry storage,
50 gallons of fuel for long runs, and a removable bow mounted 80lb thrust trolling motor.
The design of the SeaHunter boat offers a very dry and comfortable ride even in choppy water conditions. The boat easily adapts to sight fishing by push poling, fly fishing with a clean bow with a removable trolling motor and fly rod tubes for proper rod storage aboard, or working shorelines and cuts with the trolling motor. The trolling motor is great for pulling the fish and the angler away from shoreline obstructions to decrease line cuts caused by mangrove roots and other debris.
Spinning gear is provided for most fishing applications and specialty rods provided for larger species being targeted. Spinning reels are easily changed out for the left handed anglers, so let Captain Brelsford know if you would like this set up the night before. Pick a style or combination of fishing, be it dead bait, live bait, artificial bait, or plug casting.
Fly Fishing customers are welcome, but must provide their own gear at this time.
Customers are welcome to bring their own gear, but are cautioned to check it over carefully for line quality, maintenance, missing or cracked rod eyes, and general operating condition including the reel's drag.
Captain Mickey is Kid friendly. There is no more enjoyment derived from fishing than introducing and teaching young anglers about fishing and all that goes with the trip including the excitement, the wildlife, and being on the water. Investing family time on the water makes lasting memories and good rewards for school performance and positive behavior motivations, or to just celebrate a birthday or other special occasion.
Fishing instruction is available aboard your boat or mine. Learn what to look for, read the conditions and what is happening in relation to weather, tide, and current. Get a written list of recommendations, tips, and suggestions (a prescription if you will) regarding equipment, boat, tips, tricks, fishing and boating etiquette, and other information prior to making that big investment. The goal is to help you improve the safety, quality, and productivity of your trip and fishing time.
